As tow lots and cities in Tennessee accumulate abandoned vehicles and other impound cars, they will often hold auctions to both car dealers and the public to sell these cars and trucks at low prices. There is often no entry fee involved, so there is little commitment in attending the auctions. However, keep in mind that tow auctions and police auctions are not recommend for beginners to car auctions. The condition of the cars can vary wildly from pristine late models to old, beat-up cars that may have been involved in an accident. Be sure to conduct a history search of the vehicle identification number (VIN) to be aware of any defects prior to bidding.
Most of these cars were abandoned or are police seizures. Some may have been wrecked, but most have not. It is possible to get a great deal on a car or truck here since they are priced low for a quick sell. Tow and police auctions tend to have smaller inventories than typical public auto auctions. Most will accept cash or major credit cards as payment, but be sure to contact the auction first. You will also see a valid driver’s license so that any purchased vehicles can be titled into your name.
